Councilman Giovanni Puccinelli

Councilman Giovanni Puccinelli was appointed to the City Council in August 2021 and subsequently elected in November 2022.  Prior to this he served on the City of Elko Planning Commission. He is genuinely delighted and enthusiastic about the opportunity to serve the community that has offered him numerous opportunities.

Born and raised in Elko, he graduated from Elko High School in 1981 and continued his education at Yavapai College and the University of Nevada Reno, where he played college baseball for four years. Afterward, he spent 11 years in the Reno/Sparks area, working in bartending and at UPS.

In early 1994, he joined his present employer, Western Nevada Supply, and returned to the Elko area. Over nearly three decades at WNS, Councilman Puccinelli has held various sales positions, including managing branches in Bishop, Winnemucca, Pocatello, and Elko.

In April 2014, Councilman Puccinelli married his wife, Cindy, who currently works as a realtor with Coldwell Banker Excel. The couple shares a passion for outdoor activities such as golfing, hiking, and yard work. They are proud parents to two grown daughters, a son-in-law, and two grandchildren. They also have a beloved chocolate lab named Isabelle.

In addition to his role on the City Council, Councilman Puccinelli has dedicated his time to the Elko County Fair Board for a decade and has been actively involved with the fair for over 25 years.  In addition to his role on the City Council, Councilman Puccinelli has dedicated his time to the Elko County Fair Board for a decade and has been actively involved with the fair for over 25 years. He recognizes the importance of the Elko County Fair  as vibrant community event features rodeo contests in penning, roping, and horsemanship, horse racing, 4-H competitions in all kinds of livestock, farm produce, and domestic arts. 

He is also a member of NENOA, the organization responsible for officiating high school athletics. Councilman Puccinelli has been officiating basketball for a period exceeding 25 years and baseball for more than 15 years, deriving immense satisfaction from these pursuits while demonstrating a strong commitment to mentoring and guiding the youth in these sports

Councilman Puccinelli takes great pride in his service on the City Council and working in collaboration with the dedicated city staff to support the Elko community. Councilman Puccinelli's extensive involvement in the community, along with his diverse background, serves as a testament to his unwavering commitment to enhancing the well-being of Elko and its residents.

Councilman Puccinelli serves as a liaison to the following City Departments and community boards:  The Water & Sewer Department, the Municipal Landfill, the Airport & public property (2nd), the Public Works Department (2nd), the Building  Department (2nd), the Fairboard, and the Recreation Board.
