You must be 15 years old by the date the course ends to attend.
You must
pass the Lifeguarding Pre-Course
(Thursday, May 1 - 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Elko Municipal Swimming Pool) qualifications
before you may be admitted into the Course:
- 300 yard swim using
crawl and breast stroke only.
- Starting in the water swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10 lb object, return to the surface, swim 20 yards to the starting point with the object and exit the water without using ladder or steps within 1 minute 40 seconds.

Course: April 29 - May 9, 2007- You must attend
EVERY class scheduled. The course includes professional CPR & First
Aid (includes Lifeguarding books, pocket mask and other materials) - Cost:
$100.00 (payment due after passing the pre-course.)

Certification Requirements:
* Attend all class sessions
* Demonstrate competency in all required skills and activities
* Demonstrate competency in the 3 final skills scenarios
* Correctly answer at least 80% on the final written exam
This course is for the participants only, the class times are closed to the public. Applications will be given out at the end of the course. This course is for Lifeguard certification only, to be considered for employment by the City of Elko, you will need to apply and go through the hiring process.
