Q: Does the wastewater treatment facility have an approved pre-treatment program? |
A: Yes. Industrial and commercial users may be required to pretreat their wastewater before discharging to the sewer. |
Q: How does the wastewater treatment facility dispose of its sludge? |
A: The sludge is disposed by using it in land application at the wastewater treatment facility. |
Q: How much flow does the plant treat? |
A: Approximately 3.5 million gallons per day (MGD). |
Q: Where does the treated wastewater go? |
A: Approximately 60% is reused for irrigation and 30% is returned to the groundwater. |
Q: Who is the person responsible for the wastewater treatment facility? |
A: Mr. Fritz Sawyer is the Water Reclamation Facility Supervisor. |
Q: Is reuse water harmful to the environment? |
A: No. Reuse water, is governed by strict State and Federal regulations. All of those regulation must be met when discharging treated wastewater. |
Q: What percent of solids are in untreated wastewater? |
A: 99.9% water and 0.1% solids. |
Q: Can you get aids from contact with untreated wastewater? |
A: No. The Aids Virus usually explodes when it is in water for any period of time. The virus needs a host (a person) to grow and live. The virus cannot live and reproduce in water, it must have a host to do this. |
