Section 2-5-1 ADOPTION OF UNIFORM SIGN CODE:
Prior to the adoption of AB11 on 09/25/2001, Section 2-5-1 read as follows.
There is hereby adopted for the purpose of prescribing regulations governing
signs, that
certain code known as the Uniform Sign Code recommended by the International Conference of
Building Officials being particularly the latest edition thereof and the whole thereof, save and
except such portions as are hereinafter deleted, modified or amended, such to become effective
thirty (30) days after public notice of the filing in the Elko City Clerk's office hereinafter specified
as
given by one publication in a newspaper in the City. Three (3) copies of the latest edition being
adopted shall be approved by the Board of Supervisors and placed on file in the office of the Clerk
of the City of Elko. From the date on which such filed edition of said Code shall take effect, the
provisions thereof shall be controlling within the limits of the City. That said Code is hereby
adopted as the rules and regulations for the governing of signs. In the event any of the provisions
of the latest edition of the Uniform Sign Code conflict with any of the provisions of this Chapter,
the provisions of this Chapter shall govern and be controlling.
All supplements to the Uniform Sign Code, issued by the International Conference of Building
Officials between editions and approved by the Board of Supervisors and filed in triplicate in the
office of the Clerk of the City of Elko shall become part of this Uniform Sign Code effective thirty
(30) days after public notice of such filing is given by one publication in a newspaper in the City.
