Reporting to the Development Manager, this position will be responsible for performing environmental permitting, assist in the implementation of the City’s Wastewater Pretreatment Program, and working with the Development Department to implement and manage the City’s Storm Water Management Program.  The Environmental Coordinator will assist in the implementation of cross-connection control requirements within the City. This position will also perform duties at the Landfill involving environmental issues such as permitting and compliance with environmental laws and regulations.  The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively and work in a spirit of cooperation with employees, elected officials, and the general public.

This position requires an Associates Degree in environmental science or related field (a four year degree preferred), and/or five years of progressively responsible experience in environmental permitting or environmental engineering.  Experience in the fields of municipal water, wastewater treatment, storm water management, and/or landfill regulation and compliance is highly desirable. 

The salary range for this position is $52,186 - $70,185, plus an excellent benefits package. Reporting to the Public Works Director, this position is under general direction, to plan, organize, all work performed in a manner which follows established safety procedures and policies; supervise, develop, train, and motivate the personnel performing the fleet servicing, installation, maintenance, repair, and modification; to develop, prepare, and administer the equipment maintenance budget; and to provide highly technical and responsible assistance to the Public Works Director; and performing related tasks as required. 

This position requires a High School Diploma or G.E.D supplemented by specialized training or college level course work in automotive technology, diesel technology, or a related field.; six (6) years of responsible experience in vehicle and heavy equipment maintenance including two (2) years of supervisory experience; a valid State of Nevada Class B CDL driver’s license; Possession of ASE Master Mechanic Certificate, or equivalent.

The annual salary range is $59,043.73 to $70,407.37, plus an excellent benefits package.  Initial salary will depend upon qualifications.

Reporting to the Patrol Lieutenant, this position is responsible for performing responsible work in the enforcement of City animal control and licensing ordinances.  Duties will include, but will not be limited to: capturing and impounding stray/unlicensed animals; and performing related work as required by the Patrol Lieutenant.

This position requires a valid State of Nevada Driver’s license and the ability to lift heavy objects.  Experience and/or knowledge of the general care, sale, and destruction of animals desirable, but not required.  Knowledge of animal diseases is a plus.  The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively and work in a spirit of cooperation with employees and the general public.

The starting hourly rate range is $7.50 to $9.50 per hour, DOE.  Hours of work will be limited to 19 hours per week and the work schedule may vary.  This position is not eligible for benefits.

 Laborer:
Reporting to the Water/Sewer Superintendent, or designee, this position is responsible for performing manual labor and general duty work in the development, maintenance, and construction of water and sewer facilities.  Duties will include, but will not be limited to: drive trucks and equipment to job sites; locate underground utilities for maintenance and construction; clear area for construction and equipment mobilization; digs trenches; lays pipe; repairs lines; hauls dirt and gravel and hand rakes and compacts soil; assists in the construction of water and sewer lines and related facilities; performs general maintenance on power equipment; maintains hand tools and equipment of the department; uses shovels in grading ditches, digging around pipes and buried facilities; cleans water and sewer lines manually and with power flushing equipment; and performs related work as required by the Superintendent or designee.

This position requires a high school diploma or equal and any combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform this type of work.  The applicant must possess a valid Nevada driver’s license.

The hourly pay rate for this position is $14.0149 - $15.8342, plus an excellent benefits package.  Initial compensation will be at the entry level.

Water/Sewer Operator I:

Reporting to the Water Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent, this is the entry level operator position within the Water and Sewer Department requiring semi-skilled work in the operation of excavation, construction and related equipment used in water and sewer maintenance.  Incumbents occasionally operate backhoes, trenchers, dump trucks, vacuum trucks, loaders and other equipment in the maintenance and repair of water and sewer lines, valves, manholes, pump stations and other utility infrastructure. Incumbents are also required to perform manual labor. Incumbents will check wells and tanks, make process control adjustments, complete water/sewer service orders and respond to after-hours emergency calls. In any assignment, the employee must work safely and efficiently, occasionally under adverse weather or otherwise undesirable conditions.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a minimum of one (1) year of experience in the operation and maintenance of equipment common to municipal water and sewer maintenance and construction; the ability to read and write the English language and be able to solve common utility problems; a valid Sate of Nevada Class “B” Commercial Drivers License; and a Nevada Grade I (or higher) Water Distribution Operator Certificate.

The hourly rate for this position is $19.5475 to $22.0781, plus an excellent benefit package.  Initial compensation will be determined by qualifications and experience.
