Terms of office are four years, and staggered, with either the Mayor and two City Councilmen seats, or two City Councilmen seats. |

What are the qualifications to file for office? |

The qualifications for filing for Mayor or City Councilman are as follows: |
|
(a) a bona fide resident of the city for at least 2 years prior to his/her election. |
|
(b) A qualified elector within the city.
(c) The candidate must actually, as opposed to constructively, reside in the City of Elko at least 30 days immediately preceding the date of the close of filing of declarations of candidacy for this office.

How do I obtain an absentee ballot? |

Absentee ballots may be obtained by sending a request in writing to the City Clerk, 1751 College Avenue, Elko, Nevada 89801. Request letters must include name, address, what election the absentee ballot is requested for and be signed by the requestor The City Clerk's office also has forms to request absentee ballots during the election period. |
